RESEARCH PROJECT ON THE CONSUMER/RETAIL ENVIRONMENT
For the Blue Hills retail development

Blue Hills Flux Trends was recently given the opportunity to consult on the look and feel of The Blue Hills Retail Development in Blue Hills, Kyalami, due for completion in 2010. Flux was given the initial feasibility study to consider. Looking at site dynamics, demographic potential, site evaluation, density modeling and growth analysis, Flux analysed the proposed retail development in terms of current as well as forward thinking consumer, retail and architectural trends.

LESSONS IN BRANDING
For the Sanlam South African Fashion WeekBranding

Flux was invited to present at this year’s SSAFW Arts and Culture Fashion Seminar. The aim of the seminar is to help educate young designers building their own fashion brands with the hope of steering them successfully past the various pitfalls that are involved in this tricky enterprise. The title of the Flux presentation was “Anchoring your brand in a sea of fickle consumers”. The attendees included designers, students and media from various publications. Other speakers included Ferial Haffajee from the Mail and Guardian speaking on politics, Lilac Osanjo from the University of Nairobi, speaking on how to turn an idea into enterprise and Mojisola Okuribido-Seriki from UNESCO speaking on Africa’s cultural heritage and diversity.

FASHION TREND SEMINARS

For the Cape Town and Durban Fashion Councils, and for the African Fashion International Designer briefingsTrend Presentation

This year, Flux is presenting a bi-annual seasonal colour forecast to the Cape Town Fashion Council. The council is comprised of key industry figureheads such as Cheryl Arthur, the owner of South African fashion label Hip Hop, and Jackie Burger, editor of women’s magazine Elle. The council also includes other industry players from various sectors including retail, education, manufacturing, labour, trade and investment and government.
